Nobody ever believes me that these are real

everyday is sunday

We are both feeling under the weather, which means staying inside
and watching movies all day even though the sunny outside tempts
us to come play. Staying home playing house is like permanently
pretending to be sick from school and getting to hang out with your
best friend all day without parents.

And listening to old timey jazz records only adds to the blissfulness
of seemingly perfect days before e-mails and cell phones came to
interrupt us.

This book Havana Before Castro sort of visually references the mood
I’m in and the place I would physically like to be. It’s a collection
of prints and photos collected from the 50’s when “Havana evolved from
Prohibition haven and rich man’s playground to a heady blend of
glittering nightclubs, outrageous cabarets, all-night bars, and
backstreet brothels.”
Here are some pretty incredible images from the book…

The last photo above is The Riviera Hotel Lobby in 1957, and
again in 2007.

(photos by Malia James)
Malia James was on the F Yeah tour this summer taking photos and making sure
that the tour got as far as it did. She just put up a bunch of great images from the
tour and you should check them out here. She also has a photo of me that I don’t
want on the internet, not because my balls are hanging out of my shorts but because
I think my hair looks bad.

Khan - “If there’s vomit in the sink in the womans bathroom SEXX
LUTHER is in the building.”

Sexx Luther wanted us to pass along a message of thank you to all
those who came out the other night for a taste of some disco nastiness.
More to come…..

sensual, sexxual. . .

Tuesday, August 26, 2008

I’m really looking forward to tonight. For the last five months
I have been having a rather tragic, yet steamy affair with
a man called Sexx Luther. I didn’t want anyone to know, because
for one, he is pretty much irresistible and I fear the ladies
will try to seduce his leather clad and deliciously hairy body
away from my arms. And two, I am ashamed of myself, cheating
on my boyfriend, and coming home with Luther’s sexual stench
all over myself is both humiliating and terrifyingly satisfying.

Well, tonight he agreed to be the bigger man and show himself
and his skills to the public. Free Danger did a mix with this master
of sexual healing in June, but that was just a brief aural penetration.
Nothing will compare to the full body musical massage every man
and woman will feel tonight.

It all goes down at The Tell Tale Heart at Plan B.
339 East 10th Street.
10pm.

I’m getting all kinds of lady wood just thinking about it.

Ladies, the bar is called Plan B, but trust, you are gonna
want to pick up some magical baby killers for tomorrow
morning. I promise it will be more than worth it.

whirlwinds

Wednesday, August 20, 2008

So for the past few days we have broken up probably
8 or 9 times and made up about 30 times. Our place basically
fell to pieces after Friday’s show. But every single scrape and
chipped paint was worth it….

Friday will be one of our most special memories and one of
the first for the Danger Den. Kymia displayed three
large scale drawings, several smaller pen drawings, a ton of
disturbing miniature sculptures, and one larger sculpture. It
was actually a totally legitimate show with proper walls and
lighting thanks to Kymia and Thom.

Big Fun kicked off the music with an incredible performance
and showcased their sound to many new ears broadcasting
across our roof out over Brooklyn. Seriously, we have been
listening to their CD non stop and it is the one thing keeping
us sane and happy.
Future Islands played after them and everyone got so
excited they danced and jumped until the roof caved in.
I’m not sure how much this was an exaggeration on the part
of the neighbors below, we will have to investigate further.
Nonetheless we told everybody to leave that part of the roof
to relocate to the upper, more public roof for Ear Pwr to play.
Seeing two of the most thrilling performers along with Ray Roy’s
video projections, and the Manhattan and Brooklyn skylines encircling
us was one of the best experiences we have ever had. Every time
we go up to that roof we will remember everybody dancing
around Ear Pwr and freaking out in the obscenely perfect setting.
Then the cops came and it was over.
But it’s always better to burn out than to fade away.
Thanks to everyone who came out and showed their support!

We kinda had every aspect all together except for the photo
taking. So if you have photos from the show PLEASE send them
to us. We want all digital, polaroids, and whatever else you took
send to fuckyou@freedanger.com
Don’t hold back!

Where Big Announcements and Fun Times intersect

Tuesday, August 12, 2008

(artwork by Kymia Nawabi)
We are still here, both back in Brooklyn, rested and recovered from the
opening weekend of Beautiful Losers (go see it!!!!) We are super super
excited to announce that we will be exhibiting the artwork of one of our
favorite artists, Kymia Nawabi, in our new space The Danger Den, this
FRIDAY night!!!! Kymia will be taking over our entire place and filling it
with her large scale works as well as some of her creepy sculptures and more…
We just put up a gallery of her work, check it out to get an idea of what we are
in store for

If that wasn’t enough Future Islands, Ear PWR, and Big Fun will be playing on
our roof after the art show.

SRSLY?
I don’t know how this is happening, but I am not questioning it. Come out to
support the arts, and come get down to three unsanely amazing bands.
